A deal has been struck for broad release of My Little Pony: Tails of Equestria, the roleplaying game PG based on the Hasbro franchise, in the U.S. and Canada. Shinobi 7, the game studio co-owned by Ninja Division and Seven Seas Publishing, acquired the rights from European game development studio River Horse Games and Ninja Division will distribute.
“Shinobi 7 primarily goes out and looks for licenses and makes games; Ninja Division publishes their games, Ninja Division has always been really good friends with Alessio from River Horse. The opportunity for My Little Pony came out. Shinobi 7 made an arrangement with River Horse, because River Horse is European-based, for Shinobi 7 to be able to release the game in North America. Ninja Division does all the publishing and distribution for anything that Shinobi 7 does, so here we are with My Little Pony on its way.” Ninja Division Partner and Sales and Marketing Director Deke Stella
The My Little Pony: Tales of Equestria Core Rulebook will be a 152-page, full color hardcover.
As you would imagine, the book seems to be aimed at younger players to the hobby with the back cover includes an introduction on how to play storytelling games.
“This book is a manual for a storytelling game, which allows you and your friends to create your very own pony characters to explore the amazing and magical world of Equestria—will you be a dynamic adventurer like Daring Do or a bold treasure hunter like Rarity?”
It explains the role of the “GM” (Game Master) as the narrator of fellow players’ adventures, and explains the goal of the game.
“Winning a storytelling game is very easy; you just need to have fun! Tales of Equestria is not about getting to the end of a board or having the most points, but all about having fantastical adventures and using the magic of Friendship to overcome any obstacles that stand in your way. You and your friends, including the GM, are all on the same team —as long as everypony is having fun, everybody wins!”
Also coming will be a box set titled – The Curse Of The Statuettes Adventure Story
The Curse of the Statuettes Adventure Story Box Set includes an adventure book a GM screen 6 polyhedral dice and character sheets. From the back cover of the adventure book:
“All over Equestria, ponies have started to turn into statuettes, figurine versions of themselves. Nopony knows why, nopony knows when and, to make it all worse, nopony knows where the Mane Six have gone! It looks like it’s up to you to travel to distant lands, overcome terrifying danger, and save Ponyville, neigh the world!”
The adventure is for pony characters level 1 – 3, and takes players into the Badlands. There will meet a roc, and Dr. Caballeron, a greedy doctor who cares more about money than the good of ponykind.
The Tokens of Friendship gems represent pure crystallized Friendship, which allow players to keep track of the Tokens of Friendship they have earned.
