You should know the name, Frank Mentzer if you are a Grognard. If not, I’ll just say two words, “Red Box”
During his time at TSR, he also created a fantasy world setting called Empyrea, Mentzer is looking to bring this back, with a crazy ambition plan, in that it will work with 10 different game systems, yes you read that 10.
For $50 you get the boxed set in PDF format, You can opt for the $65 print version. Each box contains a full-color two-part map, an Empire core book softcover, a Player’s Guide softcover, a system book for the game of your choice, and three “little brown books”.
This is a central game setting used by a multitude of different game systems, starting with the above ten, but with more planned for the future. Currently, the setting supports:
- Dungeons & Dragons 5E
- Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 1E & 2E
- Dungeons & Dragons BECMI
- RuneQuest
- Savage Worlds
- Pathfinder
- Castles & Crusades
- Dungeon Crawl Classics
- Hackmaster
- Swords & Wizardry.
The project does have some pretty big names attached to it, not just Mr. Mentzer.
