Cheapass Games today launched a Kickstarter campaign for Girl Genius: The Works, a unique strategy card game set in the world of Girl Genius!
In Girl Genius: The Works, each card is a cog in a giant machine made up of a twelve-card tableau. On their turn, players flip, spin, and “pop” cards, which interact in different ways. Depending on the situation, cards can pop individually or in chains, giving you extra points, more cards, or something else entirely! The first player with 70 points wins.
Each card features unique, never-before-seen illustrations by Studio Foglio, the creative machine behind the steampunk webcomic Girl Genius. With an 18-year history, a fervent fan base, and many, many awards, Girl Genius is one of the most successful and long-running webcomics of all time.
The Kickstarter campaign for Girl Genius: The Works divides the cards into four different decks, corresponding to story arcs within the comic. Players may combine decks, but need only one to play the game. The campaign offers levels from $12 for a single deck, up to $60 for all four decks, a playmat, and the traditional Cheapass “Funvelope”—an envelope of shiny freebies.
The campaign is open now and runs until Friday, April 20th at 9:00 PM Pacific. They are (as of this posting) Fully funded at sitting at 143 % of the goal.
