Gen Con has released preliminary attendance estimates for the 2019 event.
The four-day convention had nearly 70,000 unique attendees, up about 12% from last year’s 61,424+. This has been the fifth straight year of unique attendance above 60,000. Gen Con attendance has consistently hovered around 60,000 unique attendees since 2015. The attendance bump can likely be attributed to the convention selling more 4-Day and Sunday badges than any other year.
“Each year we come to Indianapolis for Gen Con, the show feels bigger and better than the one before, and this year was no exception,” said David Hoppe, Gen Con President.
Other big numbers from the show, 538 exhibitors and 19,600 ticketed events which are both at all-time-highs. There were also 2000+ electronically ticketed events, twice as many as last year.
After launching, it last year, Gen Con’s live streaming efforts expanded this year, attracting 6,900 unique viewers at peak time. Additionally, Gen Con attendees helped to raise over $35,000 for 2019 Charity Partners, Game To Grow, and Special Olympics Indiana.
