Roll for Azeroth: D&D and World of Warcraft Team Up

In what is easily the biggest worst keep secret from  Gen Con, Wizards of the Coast and Blizzard Entertainment have officially joined forces to bring Azeroth back to the tabletop. Launching as the flagship release for D&D’s new Universes Beyond initiative, the D&D: World of Warcraft gameplay expansion brings the iconic MMORPG straight into the 5th Edition ruleset.

Marking the franchise’s return to tabletop RPGs for the first time in two decades, this 256-page hardcover is built specifically for players looking to adapt their favorite video game heroes into dice-rolling adventurers.

What’s Inside the Expansion?

Designed in close partnership with Blizzard, the expansion functions as a massive toolbox for both players and Dungeon Masters looking to run campaigns across Azeroth:

  • Classes & Subclasses: Features rules adapting all 13 World of Warcraft classes, including 9 new and reimagined subclasses (such as Death Knights and Shadow Priests) along with over 40 specializations.

  • Playable Species: Supports 16 total species. This includes 11 brand-new species options—such as Forsaken, Tauren, Trolls, Draenei, Worgen, and Pandaren—alongside conversion rules for core D&D species like Humans, Orcs, and Elves.

  • Iconic Dungeons: Provides ready-to-run adaptations of seven classic WoW dungeons, including The Deadmines, Scarlet Monastery, Shadowfang Keep, Onyxia’s Lair, and Azjol-Nerub.

  • Spells & Bestiary: Packed with over 60 new spells, 25+ magic items, and a bestiary featuring more than 50 Warcraft monsters and 30 unique dungeon boss stat blocks.

The Icecrown Citadel Raid Adventure

For high-level play, Wizards of the Coast is also launching a companion product: the Icecrown Citadel Adventure Map Pack.

Designed for tier-4 characters (levels 16 through 20), this high-stakes digital adventure and poster-map suite guides players through the frozen halls of Icecrown for a final, epic confrontation against the Lich King himself.

Release Dates & In-Game Goodies

Pre-orders are officially open across physical game shops and digital platforms like D&D Beyond:
