Swords, they are the bread and butter of the fantasy genre, everyone knows all the “famous” swords names. What if I told you could craft your own sword? Well, my friends, you can!
This, of course, it just what it sounds like it is, Swordcrafters is a board game about crafting a 3D sword from 2D game pieces. During the game, you hold the sword that you’re crafting in your hand. At the end of the game, your sword will be judged based on its length, quality, and magic. Not only is this board game an imaginative concept, but it’s also easy to learn and cuts straight to the fun.
Gameplay is simple, Each round starts with a grid of sword tiles, each showing a different colored gem. The sword tiles are the 2D pieces that you will craft into your 3D sword. The gems are relevant to determining your sword’s quality and magic. On your turn, you get to create a slice in the grid of sword tiles and later get to choose one of the groupings created by the slices. You will be competing with your opponents to snatch up the sword tiles to craft a game-winning blade.
When you’re finished with the game, you’re holding approximately a 1.5-2 foot cardboard sword. How cool is that?
The game is seeking to fund on Kickstarter now, and (as of this posting) has 27 days to go, and is sitting at 44 % of the goal, if meet the game should ship May of this year.
