Swedish developer The Bearded Ladies Consulting and publisher Funcom have just unveiled upcoming action-strategy adventure Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden. This looks to be based off the RPG of the same name.
Of course the world ends, it was just a question of time. Extreme climate change, global economic crisis, a lethal pandemic, and increasing tension between old and new superpowers. For the first time since 1945 nuclear weapons were used in armed conflict. Mushroom clouds rose from east to west before the dust settled. The humans are gone. The Mutants are here.
Gameplay will be similar to other strategy titles such as XCOM where you control multiple team members on a grid. With a big twist, only combat will be turn-based; exploring the maps and sneaking around will be done in real time.
The three main characters are Selma, Bormin, and Dux. Selma is a human with the power to transform into something that we don’t know quite yet. Bormin and Dux are upright walking animals — a boar and a duck,
These three protagonists appear to be the only players on the team you will control and play, but the developers are not giving too much away but do make mention of “other characters.” Not sure if this means they are just NPC’s are new characters you can play.
