Evil Dead 2 Board Game Being Resurrected By Jasco Games

Thousands of Kickstarter backers who put hundreds of thousands of dollars towards a board game adaptation of cult horror movie Evil Dead 2 only for the project to be plunged into chaos might finally get their game. Well, sort of.

Space Goat Productions raised over $700,000 for Evil Dead 2: The Official Board Game in mid-2016, originally telling the campaign’s more than 6,000 backers to expect the game to arrive by the end of the year.

However, the game suffered troubled development, leading to the project being delayed multiple times and leaving backers empty-handed, even as Space Goat launched another high-profile movie board game Kickstarter – The Terminator – in early 2017. The two campaigns together raised more than $1 million.

Despite the success of the crowdfunding, Space Goat announced that it was struggling financially to fulfil either project, eventually launching an equity crowdfunding program earlier this year to try to deliver the games to backers. Which also failed.

It looked as if this was the end of the line and all the backers that put in money were going to be out their money and never get their game. Until a surprise came from a different game company.

In collaboration with Lynnvander Studios, the Evil Dead 2™ licensing group, and our other partners, we have come together to bring Evil Dead 2™ the Board Game back from the dead. A few years ago, another company successfully launched an Evil Dead 2™ board game campaign that was never fulfilled to backers. Jasco Games has created this Evil Dead 2™ the Board Game Kickstarter as a love letter to the Kickstarter community and the fans of Evil Dead 2™. We’re calling this new type of campaign, a heartthrob campaign. What that means is if this campaign successfully funds, all of the previous backers from the campaign, that we had nothing to do with, will be able to get a free copy of our Evil Dead 2™ the Board Game.

Evil Dead 2™ The Board Game is a wild romp through the cult classic film. Players will fend off Deadites, search the cabin for items and Necronomicon pages, and attempt to close the portal before evil is unleashed upon the world. But Beware! You can’t trust everyone, and at a moment’s notice you might find that your allies are working for evil!

The heartthrob campaign is up and running now with 18 days to go, and is setting at 27% of the goal.
