Mounts Coming To DDO

No, you don’t have to check your calendar, this is not April Fools.

Cordovan on his weekly Wednesday live stream surprised everyone with a horse. Yes we are getting horses in DDO.

Here is what we know.

  • They will be an item that you summon.
  • Like in LOTRO, if you take too much damage you will be knocked off the horse and it will disappear
  • The mounts are coming with keep on the borderlands
  • They will be useful in wilderness areas and public spaces. You WILL NOT be able to use the horse in a dungeon
  • You (as of now) can’t name your horse
  • Cordovan left the door open for future types of mounts, right now it’s ONLY horses
  • You will be able to jump on your horse
  • They are still working on the animations, he was not sure if the Halfing, gnome mounts would  be smaller
  • We don’t know how we will get them, all he said was “We are keeping that tight-lipped”  he did later in the stream laugh and said “I’ll leave that to E-Commerce, as I’m sure will all the work we put in to this, we are not just going to give it to you”

That’s about all we know at this time.

What are your thoughts?

The first thing I thought of was, great another Red painted skeleton steed I’ll never have. (Fans of LOTRO Players will get this joke)

  1. https://ddowiki.com/page/Mount is the general information on this and we have a template/page started for the specific mount he showcased today. He also indicated that this is one step closer to Rocket Bears to some viewer named ShoeMaker, whoever that is (shameless self plug)… LOL

  2. The mounts will be glitchy to start, but it will be useful to have in wilderness areas if we also get the Mounted Combat feat. – Looking more for a Veradin to be introduced (even though the developers have no idea what that is yet).
