Hasbro Developing A Live Action D&D TV Show

Looks some D&D is coming to the TV screen soon!

This announcement was dropped during the latest Hasbro quarterly investor call for Q3 2020. Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner himself stated that the company is “working on a couple of different approaches” to produce the series, and is putting together a team from Hasbro’s entertainment subsidiary Entertainment One to work in tandem with Wizards of the Coast to develop the show.

“…there’s been very strong interest in the Dungeons & Dragons TV series. We’ve talked about how many global streamers and terrestrial broadcasters have been very interested in Dungeons & Dragons“ Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner

The show builds on the rising popularity of the brand. It saw a 20% rise in sales compared to last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fantasy genre, in general, is on the rise in recent years. Alongside Netflix’s The Witcher, Amazon Prime has shows based on The Lord of the Rings and The Wheel of Time in development. D&D itself has a live-action movie in pre-production. The movie, which is set for a 2022 release is directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.
