- Good stuff
- Maps, art, layout on par with other WOTC 5E products
- It is DL, which will appeal to some
- Ok … sort of I guess stuff
- Overall adventure was not “horrible”, but needs work IMHO.
- What I didn’t like
- Use of races and classes
- No gully dwarves
- not enough on other races info
- gnomes missed opportunity
- Mage Test not laid out well, have to page around throughout the book.
- Only Black Robe mages?
- Needs better organization, place stuff in appendices.
- Bad distribution of key information.
- Achievement leveling is EXTREMELY underwhelming.
- Sidekicks are nothing but page filler
- Prelude is a free level
- No Elmore
- Use of races and classes
Note … very different approach than was done with Ravenloft CoS and VRGtR.
DM’s Guild “Angle”
— If you want a complete DL Campaign you’re going to have to spend another 50 – 100$ at DMs Guild.
- Might be good? … products by Richard Knaak?
- Or do you invest in the old DL products?
- Or just hack this book?
Scale of 1 – 10 ——- weak 5
Core of the adventure is good, but execution and individual pieces and plots drag it down. Not enough with just the book itself to get a player excited about playing DL. This could have been a Forgotten Realms or generic adventure and it would have been just as good.
