Back in April, Paizo Inc. announced a partnership with BKOM Entertainment to make new Pathfinder video games. Various adaptations of the rpg have been made in the past. But the first project headed by this partnership will be an adaptation of one of the most popular adventure paths released so far, Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults.
According to an official press release, Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults will be the very first Action RPG set in the world of Golarion. The story is roughly the same as the original adventure path. A group of adventurers delves into the depths of Gauntlight Keep: a sprawling mega-dungeon full of abominations full of horrors. These monstrosities are all in service to the vengeful spirit Belcorra Haruvex, who intends to unleash this grotesque army against all who wronged her in life. In order to save countless lives, the heroes must fight their way to Belcorra and put her spirit to rest once and for all. There will be four playable characters in total, featuring iconic Pathfinder heroes like the barbarian Amiri, and the wizard Ezren.
An official announcement video provides additional details. One of the authors of the original adventure path, James Jacobs, will be working alongside the development team to assist with the adaptation. BKOM Creative Director Wyatt Gray confirms that Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults will be a multiplayer co-op game with a focus on hack-and-slash combat. In fact, it is because of this hack-and-slash focus that the team decided to adapt the Abomination Vaults adventure path specifically given its focus on dungeon crawling and combat.
The Kickstarter campaign for Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults will be live later this month. You may stay notified about the project by going to the official Kickstarter campaign’s page.
We have a pretty good relationship with BKOM as we interviewed them several times while they were making Tales from Candlekeep: Tomb of Annihilation, we are playing on doing an interview in the near future, so stay tuned!
