In partnership with Dungeons & Dragons, Converse has crafted a footwear and apparel assortment to commemorate the role-playing game’s 50th anniversary.
Leading the experience are two Chuck 70 iterations with first-edition illustrations, graphics and characters seen within the core rule books of D&D – “Players Handbook,” “Dungeon Master’s Guide” and “Monster Manual.” The collection also includes Chuck Taylor All Star iterations and an assortment of apparel, including T-shirts, a crew neck, shorts and a trucker hat.
The Chuck 70 silhouettes feature molded faceted stars on the Chuck patch – harking back to D20 (20-sided) dice – and all adult footwear styles feature a hexagonal, beveled top eyelet. All footwear styles feature nods to the game’s history on the tongue’s lining and take inspiration from the character sheet on the opposing lining. This offers a customization opportunity for wearers to personalize player names and stats on the shoe.
Fans can also customize footwear styles on Converse By You, a digital experience enabling them to craft their own unique design. Options include selecting the shoe’s canvas color, tongue print liner, toe cap, license plate and graphic prints inspired by the game. The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star will be available in both lightweight canvas and tie-dye printed canvas.
The shoebox has also been transformed into the mimic, a creature introduced in the “Monster Manual” and featured in the film, “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.”
The collection debuted at Gary Con XVI, Converse x Dungeons & Dragons will become available globally beginning April 11 at Converse.com and select retailers. Converse By You x Dungeons & Dragons will be available to build on Converse.com in North America and Western Europe.
