Dragons, Dice, and Dings! Dungeons & Dragons Pinball Machine Announced!

Hold onto your hats, adventurers! Wizards of the Coast has just dropped a bombshell: a Dungeons & Dragons pinball machine is coming!
The announcement, a cryptic collection of eyeball emojis followed by a tantalizing teaser trailer, sent the internet into a frenzy. The trailer, a whirlwind of dungeons, battle maps, and a fleeting glimpse of a fearsome red dragon, hinted at epic battles and thrilling quests. The name, “The Tyrant’s Eye,” strongly suggests we’ll be facing off against a formidable dragon lord.
But here’s the catch: this isn’t your average arcade game.
- Limited Edition: Only a select few of these beauties will be produced.
- US Only (for now): Sorry, our friends across the pond – this initial release is US-bound.
- Insider Access: You’ll need to be an All-Access Stern Insider member to even get a shot at purchasing one.
And the price? Brace yourselves: the Pro Pro edition runs $6,999, while a Premium version costs $9,699. For D&D and pinball fans with an infinite bag of holding, the game’s Limited Edition, which is limited to 740 units, costs a whopping $12,999.
What can we expect from this dragon-slaying pinball extravaganza? Will we encounter iconic figures like the cunning Xanathar or the venerable Mordenkainen? Will we face off against mind flayers, bedevil beholders, or even grapple with a gelatinous cube? Stern Pinball will reveal all the juicy details on January 3rd.
This exciting announcement comes at a time when D&D’s popularity is skyrocketing. Thanks to the captivating storytelling of shows like Critical Role and Dimension 20, and the critical acclaim of Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3, D&D has become a global phenomenon.
The marquee feature of Dungeons & Dragon: The Tyrant’s Eye is the table’s big bad guy, Rath the Relentless, a red dragon voiced by Michael Dorn (Star Trek: The Next Generation). Stern calls Rath “the most advanced animatronic mech in pinball,” and he’ll track players’ action as they try to steal his treasure. Rath can also strategically block pathways, avoid being hit, and even breathe pinballs, firing multiple balls from its mouth.
Dungeons & Dragon: The Tyrant’s Eye voice cast also includes Critical Role mainstays Matthew Mercer, Laura Bailey, and Marisha Ray; multihyphenate musicians Brendon Small of Dethklok and Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance; game designer Luke Gygax; and filmmakers Kevin Smith and Chris Prynoski. Music for The Tyrant’s Eye is by composer Chris Velasco (Bloodborne, Mass Effect 2) and artwork was handled by Vincent Proce. Veteran pinball designer Brian Eddy (Attack From Mars, Medieval Madness) lead the table’s design.
