Gear Up, Wastelanders! Modiphius Announces Second Edition of Fallout: Wasteland Warfare

Great news for fans of the post-apocalyptic tabletop! Modiphius Entertainment has officially announced that a second edition of their incredibly popular miniatures game, Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, is currently in development and set to launch in Q2 of 2026.

A Refined Wasteland Experience Awaits

Eight years after the initial release, this new edition incorporates years of community feedback, aiming to refine the game that existing players already love while making it even more accessible for newcomers.

The second edition of Fallout: Wasteland Warfare is being built primarily as a solo adventure wargame. Imagine exploring a procedurally-generated wasteland with a hero from your chosen faction, recruiting a formidable warband, and fighting for survival against the myriad of random creatures, mutants, and human enemies that roam the irradiated landscape.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! The game will also fully support co-operative play. You’ll be able to temporarily join another player’s warband, or even embark on a campaign map together with two or more players sharing the same warband. For those who love to personalize their experience, a simple character creation system will allow you to craft your own unique hero to lead your forces. And don’t worry, the beloved battle mode will still be there, letting you pit your campaign warband against another player’s or build custom warbands for head-to-head scenarios.

Your Existing Collection is Ready for Action!

One of the most exciting pieces of news for current players is the commitment to backward compatibility. As Modiphius’ Head of Brand, Samantha Webb, explains, “The game will still be using our high-detailed resin miniatures, will be compatible with the new plastic sets we’re introducing, all at the same 32mm scale, so if you have an existing collection of our Fallout minis you’ll be able to start playing straight away.”

While the scale remains consistent, Modiphius has been listening to the community regarding detail. The style of the miniatures will become “bolder,” ensuring details truly pop on the table and making them easier to assemble and paint.

Doubling Down on the Best Bits

Samantha Webb further elaborated on the design philosophy: “We’re doubling down on all the best bits of the Wasteland Warfare experience, inspired by elements of the Into the Wasteland, Homestead, and solo rules from the first edition, to give players a more refined and streamlined version of the solo campaign that’s so popular. The game really nails the feeling of Fallout: exploring the wasteland around you, being jumped by irradiated creatures, coming across other camps of survivors, raiders, or super mutants, and scavenging what you need for your warband to survive. War never changes!”

Factions Galore at Launch!
When the game launches, a wide array of fan-favorite factions will be fully supported, with more detailed rules for existing miniatures and factions to follow. At launch, expect to see rules covering:

  • Survivors
    Raiders
    Creatures
    Brotherhood of Steel
    Super Mutants
    NCR
    Caesar’s Legion
    Enclave
    Minutemen
    Railroad
    Institute
    Children of Atom
    Cult of the Mothman

This means most existing models will be playable right out of the gate, allowing you to dive straight into the action with your established collection.

Get ready to revisit the wasteland with a fresh, refined, and even more engaging experience. Which faction will you lead to victory (or glorious defeat) when Fallout: Wasteland Warfare Second Edition arrives in 2026?
