Paizo Funds Pathfinder Quest on BackerKit
Paizo, the publisher behind the popular Pathfinder tabletop RPG, has launched a new crowdfunding campaign for Pathfinder Quest on BackerKit. The project, which quickly surpassed its initial funding goal of $75,000 in just 90 minutes, is a cooperative adventure board game designed for 1-4 players that promises to deliver the Pathfinder experience without the need for a Game Master or extensive preparation.
Pathfinder Quest is set in the familiar world of Golarion, specifically around the town of Falcon’s Hollow, and features a narrative-rich, multi-session campaign. Players create their own unique characters by choosing from a variety of ancestries, classes, and abilities, or they can play as pregenerated iconic heroes. The gameplay blends classic RPG elements like exploration, combat, and character progression with streamlined board game mechanics. Actions are determined by rolling special “Quest Dice” and consulting a “Challenge Book” to discover the outcomes.
The campaign offers two main versions: a Standard Edition and a BackerKit-exclusive Deluxe Edition. The Standard Edition includes map tiles, character pawns, cards, and tokens, while the Deluxe Edition enhances the experience with sculpted miniatures for the iconic heroes and other creatures, with more miniatures unlockable through stretch goals. Paizo is also collaborating with My Mini Factory and Titan Forge to offer a collection of STL files for those who wish to 3D print their own miniatures.
The Pathfinder Quest BackerKit campaign is a testament to the continued growth and innovation of the tabletop gaming industry. It provides a new entry point for fans who may be intimidated by the full tabletop RPG experience, offering a contained, accessible, and narrative-driven adventure in a box. The campaign is scheduled to run until October 17th, with various stretch goals and add-ons available to backers.
This new project is a great way for both new and veteran fans to experience the world of Pathfinder in a different format.
