The Abyss Beckons: Devir Games Unleashes ‘Claustrophobia 1692’

Prepare to descend into the darkness, board game fans! Devir Games has officially announced the rebirth of a legendary dungeon crawl with the upcoming release of Claustrophobia 1692. This new edition of the iconic two-player asymmetrical combat game promises to be stronger, darker, and more relentless than ever before.

First unleashed by Croc in 2009 and briefly re-released in 2019, Claustrophobia has a reputation as a tense, brutal, and highly engaging battle of wits between humans and infernal legions. Now, Devir Games is bringing the masterpiece back under license from Monolith, refining and polishing it for a new generation of players.

Claustrophobia is an asymmetrical dungeon crawl designed exclusively for two players. The game thrusts one player into the role of a desperate Brotherhood of Condemned Warriors, led by their Redeemer, on a mission deep within the tunnels beneath the city of New Jerusalem. The second player commands the endless infernal legions, crawling up from the depths of Hell.

The game is scenario-based, with a different objective in each session and a modular dungeon built from randomly drawn tiles, ensuring high replayability.

Key Game Features
Asymmetrical Gameplay: The two factions play fundamentally differently.

Human Player: Leads a small, elite band of warriors whose stats are determined by assigned dice rolls each turn. Survival is paramount as you explore new areas and try to complete your objective before being overwhelmed.

Demon Player: Commands hordes of Troglodytes and other demonic creatures, using assigned dice to gain tokens, special powers, and summon new forces to swarm the humans.

Dice Management and Risk: The core of the game is a unique dice allocation system. Clever players manage their dice to maximize their figures’ actions while the demon player uses theirs to fuel their infernal powers.

Brutal, Fast-Paced Combat: Gameplay is quick and the combat is described as relentless, with many scenarios going down to the wire in under an hour.
