King Of Tokyo Official Video Game Coming Spring 2026

King of Tokyo is finally smashing its way onto your screens! Whether you are a die-hard fan of Richard Garfield’s dice-chucking kaiju classic or a newcomer looking to smash some skyscrapers, the news for digital board gamers is massive.

Just announced in December 2025, a fully realized video game adaptation of King of Tokyo is officially in the works.

  • Release Window: Spring 2026

  • Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).

  • Publisher: Microids (developed by Breakfirst Games).

What to Expect

Unlike simple 2D web ports, this version promises to be a robust “video game” experience. It will feature dynamic 3D graphics, immersive sound effects, and monster animations that bring the city-smashing action to life. You can expect:

  • Solo Mode: Battle against AI opponents if you want to practice your strategy without the pressure of human opponents.

  • Local Multiplayer: Up to 6 players can battle it out on the couch—perfect for game nights without the setup time.

  • The Full Roster: Play as fan favorites like Gigazaur, Space Penguin, and Cyber Kitty.

Why Go Digital?

Even if you own the physical box (and the Power Up! expansion, and the Halloween expansion…), the digital edition offers distinct advantages:

  • Zero Setup/Teardown: No shuffling cards, sorting energy cubes, or hunting for that one lost die under the couch.

  • Rules Enforcement: The game automatically calculates damage and prevents illegal moves, making it great for teaching new players.

  • Visual Flair: The upcoming 2026 version will likely add a layer of cinematic destruction that cardboard tokens just can’t match.

You can wish list the game now over on steam
