Warhammer World is Coming to America

Hold onto your chainswords, hobbyists! In a move that has sent shockwaves through the Warp, Games Workshop has officially announced plans to build a brand-new Warhammer World flagship venue right here in the United States.

For decades, the “Mecca” of the hobby has been tucked away in Nottingham, UK. If you wanted to see the legendary dioramas or grab a drink at Bugman’s Bar, you had to cross the Atlantic. But by late 2027, the pilgrimage is getting a whole lot shorter for North American fans.

Where is the new loaction?

GW has confirmed the new site will be located just outside Washington D.C. While they haven’t dropped the exact coordinates yet, the choice is strategic. Positioned in the Mid-Atlantic hub, it’s accessible for the massive hobby communities in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania—not to mention it’s a prime spot for international travelers landing at Dulles.

What’s Inside? (Spoiler: It’s Massive)

This isn’t just a “big store.” Games Workshop is calling this a flagship destination designed to be the ultimate celebration of the hobby. They’ve been clear: this won’t be a “brick-for-brick” copy of the Nottingham site, but it will offer the same high-tier experience.

Here is what we know will be waiting for us behind those reinforced doors:

  • The Exhibition Center: Expect sprawling halls filled with those jaw-dropping, large-scale dioramas that GW is famous for. We’re talking thousands of miniatures painted to “Eavy Metal” standards, depicting iconic battles from the 41st Millennium and the Mortal Realms.

  • The Gaming Hall: A dedicated space for events and tournaments. Whether you’re a competitive player or just want a casual game on world-class terrain, this will be the premier venue in the States.

  • The Legendary Bar & Restaurant: In the UK, it’s Bugman’s Bar. While we don’t know the name of the U.S. version yet, GW has promised a themed restaurant where you can refuel with a pint (of liquid fortification) and a burger after a long day of rolling dice.

  • Exclusive Retail: The store will likely stock “Warhammer World Exclusives”—models, apparel, and merchandise you literally cannot buy anywhere else.

Why Now?

Warhammer is currently exploding in popularity. With the success of Space Marine 2 and the hype surrounding the upcoming Henry Cavill-led Amazon series, the “grimdark” setting is going mainstream. Building a permanent home in the U.S. is GW’s way of planting a flag in their fastest-growing market.

Timeline to Launch

  • Status: Currently in development.

  • Target Opening: Late 2027.

  • Location: The Greater Washington D.C. area.

As the Emperor’s light reaches the East Coast, we’ll be keeping a close eye on zoning permits and construction updates. 2027 might feel like a long way off, but as any painter with a “pile of shame” knows: time flies when you’re working on miniatures!
