Ulisses Spiele and Goodman Games Partner for “Fighting Fantasy Quest”

The halls of Firetop Mountain are rumbling once again. Ulisses Spiele has officially inked a major partnership with Goodman Games for the publishing and North American distribution of the highly anticipated Fighting Fantasy Quest: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain.

This collaboration brings together a powerhouse of German RPG publishing and the undisputed kings of “Old-School Renaissance” (OSR) in America to revive one of the most iconic titles in tabletop history.

Ulisses Spiele, founded in 1991 by Ulrich Roos, has spent the last few decades evolving into a global tabletop titan. While they are perhaps most famous for The Dark Eye (Germany’s premier RPG), they have been aggressively expanding their English-language portfolio.

Following their 2023 acquisition of Sigil Services, LLC, Ulisses took over legendary IPs like Torg and Fading Suns. Now, by tapping Goodman Games for North American distribution, they’ve secured a direct pipeline to a fanbase that lives and breathes dungeon crawls.

“Goodman Games fans love old-school fantasy adventure, and Fighting Fantasy is perfect for all of us,” said Joseph Goodman, owner of Goodman Games.

From Gamebook to Board Game

For the uninitiated, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain was the 1982 masterpiece by Steve Jackson and Sir Ian Livingstone that launched the Fighting Fantasy gamebook phenomenon. This new board game adaptation, Fighting Fantasy Quest, transforms that solo literary experience into a cooperative or competitive dungeon-crawling board game.

Game Details at a Glance:

  • Players: 1–4 players (perfect for solo play or a full party).

  • Time: A brisk 60 minutes per session.

  • Age: 12+

  • Mechanics: Dungeon-crawling, exploration, and combat inspired by the original “Skill, Stamina, and Luck” system.

Mark Your Calendars: The Crowdfunding Launch

By partnering with Goodman Games, Ulisses Spiele is positioning its upcoming crowdfunding campaign for maximum impact in the U.S. and Canadian markets. Goodman’s expertise in high-value boxed sets and community-driven projects will be instrumental in bringing the Warlock’s domain to life.

The quest begins on February 10, 2026, when the game launches officially on Gamefound.

With Ulisses’ production quality and Goodman’s “Old School” soul, Fighting Fantasy Quest is shaping up to be the definitive way to experience Firetop Mountain for a new generation.
