Basic Fun! to Launch New Dungeons & Dragons Toy Line

The “World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game” is heading to the toy aisle in a whole new way. Basic Fun!, the powerhouse behind legacy brands like Lite-Brite, Lincoln Logs, and Care Bears, has officially secured a global licensing agreement with Wizards of the Coast (a subsidiary of Hasbro).

Set to debut in July 2026, the new line—titled Dungeons & Dragons Questers—is specifically designed to introduce the next generation of adventurers to the magic of the tabletop.

Meet the “Questers”: Collectible, Customizable, and Creative

Unlike standard action figures, the Questers line is built around the concept of discovery-driven play. The figures aren’t just for display; they are designed to be “buildable” and highly interactive.

  • Three Distinct Scales: The collection will feature three specific tiers of figures: Creatures, Adventurers, and Monsters. Fans can expect to find iconic D&D staples like Mimics, Dragons, and Kobolds.

  • Interchangeable Parts: In a nod to the “custom character” nature of the RPG, these figures feature mix-and-match parts. This allows kids to swap gear, limbs, and accessories to create their own unique heroes or fearsome beasts.

  • Tactile Storytelling: Every figure is blind-packed, adding an element of surprise to the collection. To further bridge the gap between “toy” and “game,” each pack includes a D20 die and a “story-starter” card to help young players begin their first narrative adventures.

Generation Alpha

The Questers line is strategically aimed at children ages 5 to 8, a demographic often referred to as Generation Alpha (born between 2014 and 2024). This move is a clear effort to future-proof the D&D brand by creating an “on-ramp” for young fans before they are ready for the complex math of a Player’s Handbook.

Kara Kenna, Franchise Creative Director for D&D at Wizards of the Coast, emphasized that the collaboration is about more than just plastic:

“As Dungeons & Dragons continues to grow its global fanbase and expand its place in pop culture, Questers gives kids an exciting, hands-on way to explore fantasy and imagination. This collaboration brings together two teams passionate about play to create something truly special.”
