Dark Horse Comics Announces New D&D Comic
Move over, heroic paladins and noble bards. This summer, the monsters are taking the lead. Dark Horse Comics has officially announced Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers, a fresh four-issue miniseries launching on July 22, 2026.
In a clever twist on the classic adventuring party dynamic, this series follows five iconic monsters who find themselves bound by the spell of a deceased wizard. To win back their freedom, this unlikely group of “villains” must learn to work together—essentially becoming the very thing they usually try to eat.
Meet the Party
Forget the standard Fighter/Mage/Thief setup. This crew is a literal rogue’s gallery of D&D staples:
-
A Lycanthrope (The muscle)
-
A Gelatinous Cube (The… tank?)
-
A Mind Flayer (The brains)
-
A Death Knight (The veteran)
-
A Baby Beholder (The wildcard)
The Creative Team
Dark Horse has assembled a stellar party of their own to bring this chaotic quest to life:
-
Writer: Christopher Hastings
-
Artist: Denis Medri
-
Colorist: Dan Jackson
-
Letterer: Lucas Gattoni
This marks the second major D&D release from Dark Horse since securing the license from Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, following the success of their debut title, The Fallbacks.
Collector’s Corner: Variant Covers
The first issue is coming out of the gates swinging with a variety of covers to suit every type of collector:
-
Main Covers: Elizabeth Beals, Michael Walsh, and Lukas Ketner.
-
Incentive Variant: A 1:20 ratio cover by Matías Bergara.
-
Special Edition: A “Blank Character Sheet” cover—perfect for getting your favorite artist to sketch your own OC (or TPK-inducing monster) at your next convention.
