5th Edition of Fury of Dracula Coming From Avalon Hill

The King of Vampires is rising once again. After years of being out of print and highly sought after by collectors, Avalon Hill has officially confirmed that a brand-new 5th Edition of Fury of Dracula is set to haunt gaming tables in 2026.

Based on the latest reports from the tabletop industry, here is everything you need to know about the return of this Gothic horror classic.

A New Era of the Hunt

Originally published by Games Workshop in 1987, Fury of Dracula has seen several iterations over the decades (most notably the beloved 3rd and 4th editions). The upcoming 5th Edition promises to maintain the soul of Stephen Hand’s original design while modernizing the experience for a new generation of hunters.

Key Release Dates

  • Gen Con 2026 Debut: Avalon Hill will officially unveil the game at Gen Con in August 2026, where copies will be available for early purchase and live demos.

  • Retail Launch: The game is scheduled to hit local game stores and major retailers on September 1, 2026.

What’s New in the 5th Edition?

While the core “one-vs-many” hidden movement mechanics remain intact, Avalon Hill is introducing several quality-of-life updates and a brand-new way to play.

1. The “Quicker Gameplay” Variant

The most significant addition is a new variant designed by Dave Chalker. Fury of Dracula is famous for its tension, but it can sometimes run long (3+ hours). This new mode streamlines the experience by:

  • Map Restrictions: Parts of the map (Italy, Spain, and Portugal) are cordoned off due to “plague,” tightening the play area.

  • Accelerated Travel: Lower-value train tickets are removed, allowing Hunters to cover ground faster.

  • Advanced Start: Dracula starts with 3 damage and 2 influence, mimicking a game that is already into its second week of tension.

2. Modernized Components

Following the trend of recent Avalon Hill refreshes (like HeroQuest and Betrayal at House on the Hill), fans can expect:

  • Refined rulebooks for better clarity.

  • Updated card art and graphic design.

  • Highly detailed miniatures for Dracula and the four iconic hunters: Lord Godalming, Dr. John Seward, Quincey Morris, and Mina Harker.

Summary of Summer 2026 Releases

Avalon Hill is making 2026 the year of Vampires and  horror. Along with Fury of Dracula, they are also launching:

  • Talisman Sagas: Crown of Blood: June 15, 2026 (a vampire-themed expansion featuring Mina Harker and Van Helsing).

The Verdict: Whether you are a veteran tracker or a new victim, the 2026 return of Fury of Dracula looks to be the definitive way to experience the hunt. Keep your stakes sharpened and your garlic handy—September 1st is going to be a bloody good time.
