Elizabeth Olsen Sinks Her Teeth into “Flesh of the Gods” with Kristen Stewart & Oscar Isaac

Fans of surreal, stylish horror and star-studded casts, rejoice! Director Panos Cosmatos, the visionary behind the cult hit Mandy, is assembling an incredible ensemble for his next project, the ’80s-set vampire thriller Flesh of the Gods. Adding to the already exciting lineup of Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac, Elizabeth Olsen has now officially joined the cast!
Since Mandy captivated audiences with its unique blend of psychedelic visuals and visceral revenge in 2018, anticipation for Cosmatos’s next cinematic endeavor has been high. Last year, the news broke that he was attaching A-list talent to what promised to be an intriguing horror thriller. Now, with Elizabeth Olsen stepping into a pivotal role, Flesh of the Gods is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated genre films on the horizon.
A Glimpse into the Glittering, Gory ’80s L.A.:
Flesh of the Gods is set in the “glittering 1980s” of Los Angeles and follows the married couple Raoul (Oscar Isaac) and Alex (Kristen Stewart). Each evening, they descend from their luxurious skyscraper condo into a vibrant, electric nightlife. Their lives take a dark and seductive turn when they encounter the mysterious and enigmatic Nameless, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and her hard-partying cabal. Raoul and Alex are then lured into a “glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills, and violence.”
The project boasts an impressive creative team beyond the director and cast. Veteran screenwriter Kevin Walker, known for his work on Se7en, is penning the script. Producing duties are handled by Adam McKay and Betsy Koch through Hyperobject Industries, with Oscar Isaac also producing via his Mad Gene Media banner with Gena Konstantinakos.
Panos Cosmatos has shared his vision for the film, stating, “Like Los Angeles itself, Flesh of the Gods inhabits the liminal realm between fantasy and nightmare. Both propulsive and hypnotic, Flesh will take you on a hot rod joy ride deep into the glittering heart of hell.” Producer Adam McKay further emphasized the film’s ambitious scope, adding, “We think it’s wildly commercial and wildly artful. Our ambitions are to make a movie that ripples through popular culture, fashion, music and film.”
For Elizabeth Olsen, this role offers another exciting venture beyond her iconic portrayal of Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch in the MCU (where she is expected to return in projects like Avengers: Secret Wars). Her upcoming slate also includes the comedic romance Eternity, the conspiracy thriller Panic Carefully, and FX’s supernatural drama series Seven Sisters.
While a production start date is not yet confirmed, with such a stellar cast and a director known for his distinctive style, Flesh of the Gods is certainly a film to keep an eye on for those who crave a unique and intense cinematic experience. Get ready for a wild ride into the neon-drenched, vampire-infested underbelly of 1980s L.A.!
