Gen Con 2026 Announces Attendee Numbers

The “Best Four Days in Gaming” just got even bigger. Gen Con LLC has officially announced that Gen Con 2026 set a brand-new attendance record, bringing over 74,000 gaming enthusiasts to Indianapolis from July 30 to August 2.

The milestone came as little surprise to attendees who were paying attention—Gen Con posted sell-out signs for all four days of the convention on July 29, a full day before the doors officially opened.

Here is a look at the major highlights and numbers from this year’s record-breaking event:

Record Turnout: Over 74,000 attendees gathered in Indy, surpassing 2025’s total by 2,000 people.
Massive Vendor Growth: Nearly 800 vendors set up shop this year—a massive 45% surge compared to the 575 vendors featured in 2025.
Economic Impact: The convention generated over $83.5 million for local Indianapolis businesses.
Charitable Giving: Attendees showed up for a good cause, raising nearly $50,000 for charity throughout the weekend.

“Even through construction and thunderstorms, Gen Con 2026 was bigger and better than ever, with a record-breaking number of attendees gathering in Indianapolis for The Best Four Days in Gaming,” said Gen Con President David Hoppe. “We can’t thank Indy enough for hosting us, and we’re already looking forward to our 60th anniversary convention in an expanded Indiana Convention Center next year.”

To accommodate the ever-growing tabletop community, the Indiana Convention Center is undergoing a major expansion that will add 143,500 square feet of space. Coupled with brand-new downtown hotel rooms opening in 2027, the stage is set for an even massive 60th anniversary celebration.
