Paverson Games Announces Small Batch: A Distilled Game
Paverson Games is returning to its roots—and its flagship hit—with the announcement of Small Batch: A Distilled Game.
Designed as a streamlined, portable companion to their best-selling euro-style board game Distilled, Small Batch condenses the spirit-crafting experience into a faster, highly accessible package without losing the strategic depth fans love.
Designed by Ben Rosset (Fromage, Brew Crafters) with art by original Distilled artist Erik Evensen, the game is scheduled to launch via pre-orders and head direct to retail in Q2 2027.

What Makes Small Batch Different?
While Small Batch shares the visual polish and theme of its predecessor, it introduces fresh mechanisms designed to speed up play and keep every player active on every turn:
1. The Core “Heads & Tails” Engine Returns
Fans of the original game will recognize the signature push-your-luck distillation process. Players will continue to gather ingredients, collect recipes from around the globe, acquire specialized barrels and bottles, and upgrade their distillery operations.
2. Variable Action Drafting
Rather than a traditional static action board, Small Batch uses a dynamic selection row where actions rise and fall in strength as they cycle through. Timing becomes a core puzzle—players must decide not just which action to take, but when to strike for maximum effect.
3. Zero Downtime with the “Follow” Mechanic
To eliminate waiting between turns, Small Batch incorporates a follow mechanic. When the active player takes an action, off-turn players can react and capitalize on those choices, keeping everyone engaged throughout the game.
4. Portable, Card-Based Design
Unlike the heavy setup and dual-layered boards of the original 7-pound box, Small Batch is built primarily as a card-based experience. It shrinks the physical footprint down so it can easily travel in a backpack or fit on a coffee table.
A Great Entry Point for New Distillers
For players who felt intimidated by the weight or length of the original Distilled, Small Batch aims to serve as the ideal gateway title. At the same time, its variable drafting and timing mechanics promise enough tactical strategy to give veteran distillers a satisfying new challenge.
Pre-orders will open through local game stores and directly on the official Paverson Games website leading up to the Q2 2027 retail release.
