 New Player Options: Classes, Species, and Feats

The book introduces seven new horror-themed subclasses, designed to lean into the darker side of adventuring. Notably, for D&D Beyond users, purchasing the digital edition reportedly unlocks the Artificer base class to support its new subclass.

• The Subclasses: Includes the Reanimator (Artificer), Hollow Warden (Ranger), College of Spirits (Bard), Grave Domain (Cleric), Phantom (Rogue), Shadow Sorcery (Sorcerer), and the Undead Patron (Warlock).

• Four New Species: Fan favorites return with updated 5.5e mechanics, including the Dhampir, Hexblood, Reborn, and the debut of the werewolf-inspired Lupin.

• Character Origins: Four new backgrounds like the Haunted One and Spirit Medium pair with 9 Dark Gifts—supernatural bargains that grant power at a terrifying price.

The Domains of Dread: 16 Realms of Terror

The book features in-depth lore on 16 Domains of Dread, including the first official D&D crossover with cosmic horror icon Innsmouth. Players can expect to visit:

• The Classics: Barovia (Strahd), Darkon (Azalin Rex), and Lamordia (Dr. Mordenheim).

• The New & Cosmic: Innsmouth, a domain specifically tailored for Lovecraftian horror, featuring the Great Old One Cthulhu as a Darklord with a full stat block.

• Other Confirmed Realms: Borca, Dementlieu, Falkovnia, Har’Akir, Kalakeri, and Kartakass.

This isn’t just a setting guide; it’s a toolkit. The book includes 17 Darklords (each with a dedicated stat block) and a bestiary of over 50 monsters, including “Fearsome Mists Denizens.”
