VIOTEK GN27C2 Monitor Review

Is this “Budget” friendly gaming montior worth your hard-earned cash? Read on to find out my thoughts!

You might have saw that I did an “unboxing” video on a 27 inch gaming montior awhile back, after I did that video, I have used that monitor as my gaming monitor. I wanted to get a good feel for the monitor before I sat down to review, as I wanted “real world’ experience with it.

First, let’s take a look at the specs

  • 27-inch 16:9 widescreen display
  • Ultra-thin, bezel-less design
  • AMD FreeSync
  • 144hz Refresh Rate
  • Xbox Ready
  • 1920px1080p resolution
  • 1800R Curvature / 178° Viewing Angle
  • 1M:1 Dynamic Contrast, 16.7M Colors, 96% sRGB Gamut
  • 5ms Response Time
  • Gameplus Crosshair Functionality
  • Anti-Glare Screen + Low Blue Light Mode
  • VESA Mountable
  • Internal Speakers

With that out-of-the-way, let’s take a look at the design of the monitor.  Overall it’s a very well designed and made monitor, The curve takes some getting used to at first, at least for me, I have never used a curved montior before, but after I used for a few days, it become notmal to me, and now It’s odd to me when I use my other computer and my non curved montior.

The stand was easy to installmy but could use some work. PRO TIP when are you putting it on the monitor, I would suggest NOT using the included tools, there were pretty worthless, I found it easier to use my own.

My biggest coplanint I have is I sure wish the stand could be adjusted, you don’t get any highet adjustments, you can tilt it a bit, which is ok, but I wish I could have made the stand just a tad bit taller, nitpicky I know.

The hookups, are on the bottom, there is a panel that pulls out to give you access.

There is a wide variety you have here, but don’t look for a VGA plug, there is none to be had. but if you are serious about gaming you will not be bothered by this.

My second “Negative” of the review is where the buttons to access the menus are, they too are under the screen, which is fine, but they are not really buttons, just nubs you hit, they were hard to use in my opinion. Wish they would have done something different here.

So, how did I think it did as a monitor? One word amazing. The colors are bright and crisp, the action moves nicely with no noticable “ghosting”.

Websites and text look great on the screen as well, with a very sharp contrast.  It makes a great way to keep on my Raiders or watching movies as well!

Bonus points, for those who know who my wallpaper is currently

The display looks great with exceptionally dark blacks. There was little to no backbleed that I could see, I did not even have to adjust the picture that much, I just did a few tweaks here and there.

Though the GN27C2 does indeed have speakers, they really aren’t very good at all. They had a very tin sound too them, not much bass at all, but as you will be more than likely picking this up for a gaming computer, you will have a nice set of headphones your wearing anyway, so this is not really a big deal. Just keep that in mind if you plan to use this as your every day screen. you will want to pick up a nice set of speakers and not use the built in.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a budget-friendly gaming monitor, then look no further then the GN27C2. With features gamers want and the price point they love, you can’t go wrong, with the $249 Price point it’s at right now.
