In the past when character level cap increased it coincided with an expansion. Update 14, DDO’s first expansion, increased level cap to 25 and introduced us to Epic levels. In Update 19 the level cap increased again to 28. Looking forward towards the year’s end and the promise of level 30, there’s no announcement of an expansion to coincide with this level increase. Or will there be?
Seems like we’re well overdue for another expansion, right? Let’s first define what an expansion is.
Wikipedia defines it as: “An expansion pack, expansionset, supplement, or simply expansion is an addition to an existing role-playing game, tabletopgame or video game. These add-ons usually add new game areas, weapons, objects, and/or an extended storyline to complete an already released game.”
So with that said it would seem that with a level cap increase, Epic green steel weapons, and an extended storyline in the works, one could consider it an expansion. Maybe?
If not when will we see the next expansion? Expansions in DDO are such an exciting time for players because it usually leads to some decent pre-purchase incentive items. To this day with every new character I create I still get those items to start their journey through Eberron.
Well regardless, I am excited about level 30 and looking forward to more end game content.
