Gen Con has updated safety protocols once again. They lay it all out in a new update over on the blog.
These are the final and confirmed plans for health and safety requirements to attend Gen Con Indy 2022.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Gen Con requires every participant, including attendees, exhibitors, event organizers, guests, and Gen Con staff, to comply with these Health and Safety Requirements (the “Policy”), including the Health and Safety Acknowledgement below. No one is permitted entry to Gen Con unless they are in full compliance with the Policy, which includes but is not limited to:
FULL VACCINATION
All participants are required to show proof of full vaccination with a COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or World Health Organization (WHO). “Fully vaccinated” means that the day of your first entry to Gen Con must be at least 14 days after completion of your primary series of an FDA or WHO-approved or authorized COVID-19 vaccine. Please refer to our FAQ for additional details regarding our vaccination requirements.
APPROVED FACE COVERING
All participants must wear an approved face covering at all times while indoors in any Gen Con-controlled space and while attending or participating in any event in any venue that requires a Gen Con badge for entry. Please refer to our FAQ for additional details regarding our face-covering requirements.
DAILY HEALTH MONITORING
Anyone who is not feeling well or begins to experience symptoms of COVID-19 or any other similarly communicable illness at any time during Gen Con should contact and follow the guidance of their physician. All participants are required to accept and comply with the below Health and Safety Acknowledgement in order to be granted entry to Gen Con.
What will the vaccination review process be on-site at Gen Con?
Everyone ages 5 and up participating in Gen Con, including exhibitors, event organizers, GMs, Event Team, contractors, and Gen Con staff, must be fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved or authorized by the FDA or WHO against COVID-19 in order to attend and must show proof of vaccination at their time of entry.
“Full vaccination” means that your date of entry to Gen Con is at least 14 days after your final dose of an FDA/WHO approved or authorized vaccine. The following vaccines will be accepted at Gen Con*:
Vaccines approved by the FDA or authorized by the FDA for emergency use:
- Pfizer (BioNTech)
- Moderna
- J&J (Jansen)
Vaccines authorized by the WHO for emergency use:
- Oxford – AstraZeneca
- Sinopharm – BBIBP
- Sinovac
- Covishield
- Covaxin
Vaccine used during a U.S. based clinical trial:
- Novavax
Gen Con will accept mixed COVID-19 vaccine schedules of authorized vaccines to establish full vaccination status.

Getting in and getting your wristband
To enter Gen Con or any other Gen Con-controlled space or to pick up your badges at Will Call, you will need a wristband first to indicate that you have verified your vaccination status.
A vaccine verification station will be located on the second floor of the ICC in Sagamore 7 where you will verify your vaccination status and receive your wristband.

Look for signage on-site to direct you to the vaccination verification station.
At our vaccination verification station, you must present a government-issued photo ID and an approved vaccination record demonstrating proof of Full Vaccination with an authorized or approved vaccine. Participants under 18 years of age are not required to show ID. Participants can provide proof of vaccination using one of the following approved methods on-site at Gen Con:
- A Government Issued Vaccination Record (paper or photo)
- CLEAR Health Pass
Upon verification of your vaccination status, you will receive a wristband which must be worn for the duration of the convention. You will only need to complete the vaccination verification process once, provided you keep your wristband on for the duration of the convention. Please keep your wristband on for all the days you’ll be attending Gen Con so that you don’t need to re-verify your vaccination credentials.
Your wristband will confirm that your vaccination has been verified and will be valid for all the days you’re attending Gen Con.
You will NOT be able to pick up your badges or event tickets from Will Call or purchase badges or tickets prior to visiting a vaccination verification station and receiving your wristband. You must do this step first.
If you already have your badges and tickets received via mail, you will be able to enter Gen Con-controlled spaces immediately after receiving your wristband.
What does “fully vaccinated” mean?
At this time, “fully vaccinated” means that the day of your first entry to Gen Con must be at least 14 days after completion of your primary series of an FDA or WHO-approved or authorized COVID-19 vaccine, such as:
- second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or
- single dose of a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine (Johnson & Johnson’s Jansen vaccine)
In accordance with CDC guidelines, booster shots are not required to be considered fully vaccinated, however, please note that the CDC recommends that people remain up to date with their vaccines, which includes additional doses for individuals who are immunocompromised or booster doses at regular time points. Please note that this remains subject to further update as CDC guidance is revised.
What are approved face coverings?
Approved face coverings are required to be worn by everyone at Gen Con at all times, including during move-in and move-out.
All face coverings must, at a minimum, fit properly and closely on the face without any gaps along the edges or around the nose, fully covering your nose and mouth, and secure under your chin. Gen Con strongly recommends the use of a properly fitted N-95 or KN-95 mask.
Not permitted:
- Face coverings with respirators or exhalation valves
- Face coverings, including bandanas, that are unable to be secured under your chin
- Neck gaiters
- Mesh materials
- Face coverings that contain holes or are significantly damaged
- Costume masks. (Costume masks may be worn in combination with an approved face covering)
What additional health and safety measures are in place at Gen Con?
Gen Con show management partners closely with the Indiana Convention Center, and local, state, and federal health authorities to maintain a robust operational plan designed to maximize the health and safety of everyone. These include:
- Mandatory practices for all ICC staff, labor, and contractors as outlined in the ICCLOS Return to Workplace COVID-19 Mitigation Plan
- Plexiglass sneeze guards at all reception areas and at all service areas
- Multiple hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the facility for staff and visitors alike
- Graphics and signage with reminders for practicing good health and safety habits installed at all entrances and throughout the building
- Touchless automatic toilets, sinks, and soap dispensers in all restrooms
- Hands-free elbow door openers on all exterior and interior entry points
- Hospital-grade air filters and 24/7 air circulation during events
- Increased cleaning and disinfection with the Clorox 360 system
- Modified food service policies, including touchless payment options
